Simon Whaley was our first ever judge and I am delighted he has agreed to judge the competition once again.

Simon is an award-winning writer and photographer. He is the author of 13 non-fiction books, including the bestselling dog title One Hundred Ways For A Dog To Train Its Human, which has now sold over 260,000 copies, and recently acquired an Icelandic edition to accompany its North American, Portuguese and Italian editions.

His fiction has appeared in Woman’s Weekly Fiction Special, Take a Break and Take a Break’s Fiction Feast, The Weekly News, The People’s Friend, and Australia’s That’s Life fast Fiction.

Simon has a monthly column on the business of writing in Writing Magazine and regularly runs writing workshops in both fiction and non-fiction.

He has been adjudicating writing competitions for many years and has, amongst others, judged the Wellington Literary Festival Short Story Competition, Telford & Wrekin Literary Competitions, The New Writer Magazine Awards, NAWG (National Association of Writers Group) annual competitions, Doris Gooderson Short Story Competitions, the Grace Dieu Writers’ Circle Short Story Competition and Writelink’s After the Rain Short Story Competition.
